As Sam's best buddy and neighbor, Matt is always nearby. Matt is not afraid of anything and is known for his daredevil stunts. No game is too loud, fast or wild. His trademark is his blue high tops and he accepts his nickname as a badge of honor. He likes the sound of his voice when it gets hoarse and scratchy from talking too much.

Brian and Natalie Burn have a ranch house on the street. Brian is a sports writer and Natalie is an attorney working part-time. They did not expect the twins when Matt's sisters Ann & Jane were born and both parents feel a bit overwhelmed. Matt sometimes gets overlooked because of the busy household. They inherited a big Bernese mountain dog from Brian's brother, which only adds to the household chaos. The calmest person in their house is Maria, the nanny.
